Red wax, a cold quilt and rain through the wutong
红蜡、寒衾与梧桐雨：一间越听越冷的屋子Wen Tingyun begins close to the body: incense burner, wax tears, painted hall, brows and loosened hair keep the listener indoors. In the second half, third-watch rain crosses the wutong tree and strikes the empty steps, leaf by leaf and sound by sound. The viewpoint stays still while hearing widens the room. Longing becomes a cold body, an unfinished night and rain counting time. Lingwan carries each short phrase like a drop, turning silence into part of the story.
Guqin, pipa and soft strings carry the returning rain
古琴、琵琶与轻弦，托住一叶一声的回环A delicate, clear voice with guqin, pipa and soft strings keeps the poem close to its room and its solitary listener. The original text unfolds in marked sections, while a contemporary refrain returns to the image of rain falling leaf by leaf, sound by sound, and red wax burning toward dawn. The returning melody does not dissolve loneliness; it lets each breath inside the long night be heard.
