No one comes to meet you; a song stays for a few stops.
Cantonese city-ballad direction · Mary-country · the last harbour busWhat do these music words mean? ↓
Extra stops keep alive the hope that a familiar figure might appear. One of two empty seats is saved for an old wish. The driver asks nothing as street lamps light in turn. At the end, waiting passes to a song: company need not depend on somebody arriving.
Mary-country’s warm mezzo direction imagines a Cantonese city-love ballad with guitar, piano, cello and restrained strings. The bus moves forward while the heart lingers in an older time. An evening of waiting deserves to be held gently too.
