There is one dance left—and only one.

Mandarin waltz brief · light mezzo and muted trumpet

This edition begins with the last plate: he says there is one dance left, and the narrator agrees. A coat rests on the chair; the steps are correct, but the eyes do not meet. Its final words let both people drift away with the wind after dawn, a different farewell from the other edition’s wish that each will be well.

The public waltz brief chooses a light mezzo voice, muted trumpet, strings and brushed drums for an intimate ballroom palette. A shared title need not erase small differences. Begin with the dialogue and final line, then return to the hand that suddenly tightens.

[Outro] (strings resolve, room fades)
