The road stays; its weight changes.

Acoustic folk-gospel direction · guitar, organ and close duet

On the outward trip, every mile demands a decision twice. Returning changes the side of the sun and the burden carried inside. Familiarity and uncertainty are offered as possible reasons, while the refrain keeps not knowing. Recognition need not require a final explanation.

The 80 BPM acoustic folk-gospel direction uses guitar arpeggios, upright bass, brushes, warm strings and restrained organ. Alternating verses join in close harmony, with a final harmonic turn toward the opening. The familiar road can hold another beginning.

[Verse 1] Going out it took four hours and it felt like seven every mile was a decision and I made all of them twice [Pre-Chorus] And now the same road, the same turns and the sun on the other side [Chorus] The way back is shorter nobody knows why the way back is shorter same road, same sky the way back is shorter [Verse 2] I think it is because you know it and knowing takes the weight or maybe it is that going out you do not know what you will find [Pre-Chorus] And now the same road, the same turns and the sun on the other side [Chorus] The way back is shorter nobody knows why the way back is shorter same road, same sky the way back is shorter
