Numbers and backlight are gone, yet an old radio receives voices. Tonight the dial need not return to the familiar.

An unfamiliar language can still share a room.

English chamber-folk direction · felt piano, nylon guitar and cello replies

Tuning and an unexpected language describe a willingness to keep listening. The narrator no longer requires a familiar channel and lets a voice have the room for a while. This is not understanding every language, but allowing unfamiliar sound to arrive first as timbre and rhythm.

The 62 BPM chamber-folk direction interlocks sparse felt piano and nylon guitar, with cello replies between phrases and a close silvery alto. The words remain English; the unfamiliar language belongs to the scene the lyric describes. Listen for the space an instrument leaves for another to answer.

[Verse 1] The numbers on the glass are gone the light behind is too but it still comes on, and it still finds whatever is coming through [Chorus] I do not tune it any more I leave it where it lands and whoever wants the room tonight can have it in their hands [Verse 2] Some nights it is a language that I have never learned and I keep it on and let it talk and nothing has to turn [Chorus] I do not tune it any more I leave it where it lands and whoever wants the room tonight can have it in their hands
