A seventy-three-year-old man learns voice messaging. Three tiny messages become three daily buses worth waiting for. He sends less for fear of bothering someone; reassurance restores the routine. More than a thousand messages saved across two years become replayed company. The words do not explain why messages later stop or specify his family relationship to the narrator.
The 66 BPM post-rock direction sets restrained female voice among e-bow and tremolo guitar, harmonium, spare piano and glockenspiel, with brushes entering later. Slowly growing space lets brief messages hold the care they did not spell out.
