A door can separate life and let it be heard.

English ballad · cross-cultural koto, shakuhachi and shamisen direction

The thin door is not a failure in the lyric: it lets family life be heard. Years later, the narrator lies inside complete silence listening for the old house. Thinness and solidity trade places, letting longing start from an ordinary detail.

The 70 BPM direction sets koto, shakuhachi, shamisen and soft taiko beside piano and strings around a Bollywood-coloured English duet. It is a creative combination of Japanese instruments and cross-cultural vocal phrasing, not a claim of Japanese lyrics or a traditional Japanese song.

[Verse 1] You can hear the whole house through it and it keeps nothing out and that is not a failure of the door that is what it is for [Pre-Chorus] We learned to be quiet early and we learned it very well [Chorus] Thin as that, thin as that and it held a family in thin as that, thin as that and nobody broke through thin as that [Verse 2] I live in concrete now and I hear absolutely nothing and I lie awake in all that nothing listening for the house [Pre-Chorus] We learned to be quiet early and we learned it very well [Chorus] Thin as that, thin as that and it held a family in thin as that, thin as that and nobody broke through thin as that
