Bajiao is not a substitute for any real ethnic vocal tradition. She is a carefully named borderland world-music experiment, placing the images of southwest Chinese rain, stilt houses, mountain roads and silver ornaments beside South Asian cinema and wider world-music structures.

The Stars Are Near · Bajiao South Asian Crossing enters a verified 14-recording Qixi lineage across 11 singers; 14 of those recordings by 11 singers now play completely on site. All four Bajiao masters now play in full, making her continuously audible as a lead virtual singer: the road work carries departure and return through more than five minutes, while the others open rainforest, voice comparison and Ganges moonlight. The point is not to crowd a song with regional symbols: bansuri, hulusi, sitar and tabla are arrangement cues, not cultural identity papers.
